  1. The managing director writes: our material purchasing costs €38m a year and prices keep rising. Rovane, the project lead, sets the goal: 4% less, around €1.5m a year.
  2. Rovane splits the work into three levers: compare prices, bundle volume, review contracts. Deliverables: spend analysis in week 1, tender in week 3, negotiation in week 5.
  3. Lena calls S. Wagner in purchasing: “We buy turned parts from seven suppliers. Who gets which part is often down to chance.”
  4. Mira analyses 14,000 order lines from the ERP. Finding: the same turned part is bought at four prices, up to 31% apart.
  5. Otto proposes bundling the turned parts from seven suppliers to two and drafts the tender with a cost breakdown per part. The managing director approves.
  6. Rovane checks in week 6: 2.4% saved. Goal not reached yet.
  7. Round 2: Mira reads the steel contracts. The surcharges still run on an outdated price index. Otto prepares the renegotiation.
  8. Clara reports in week 11: 4.3% saved, around €1.6m a year. Goal reached. The team keeps watching prices.
